We didn't meet too long ago but he says he really doesn't have anyone. He's been nothing but nice to me, but like I said we're new friends. The other night he got arrested for a DUI on a suspended license. The license was suspended because of a DUI. I'm told that means a judge will def. hand out jail time, may 30days to 6mths.
I've called and found out he's still locked up awaiting bail. I know he doesn't have the money to bail himself out. I just feel so bad, but at the same time.....I barely know him well enough and he did something completly stupid. But he called me and asked for help. What do I do?

He's in his 30's, could there be a chance he has just been screwed by life and could be a good person? You know the result of bad parents and all that...

Hummmm--lets put this in some sort of order K??

1--he is a new friend
2--he was driving on a suspended license--because of a DUI
3--HE DRINKS and drives
4--You are the one he calls for help??
5--Where is his family and old friends??
6--remember he called you??
7--He has been stupid many times before and his friends and family wont help him anymore
8--You don't know him well enough to bail him out and if you did how do you know he wont jump bail?? And leave you with the cost?
9--Don't even feel bad--he broke the law twice and he needs to grow up and stop with this before he kills himself or someone else--
10--So be a friend and just tell him sorry you just don't have the money --and quit taking collect calls and running your bill up--

NO!!!! He got there, let him figure a way out! He won't pay you back! I've been throught this before where this guy back in the 70's said "Oh i'm your friend. I really am, please help me" I told him you got yourself there figure a way out! Cuz if you get him out & he gets back into jail again, guess who he's gonna call on....yep YOU! Think about it & what everyone else is saying on here as well! If you didn't want our help you wouldn't have posted a question right? Don't do it.

P/S...Think before you do something you'll regret later on down the road, okay? Plus don't let him put you on a guilt trip either!

A great friend would give you a credit card and a car and tell you to bail outta town for a bit, until she can bury the body in a deep grave, and soak it in pure lye.

Definitely not. He sounds like a complete loser. He'll probably end up screwing you over and then you will be left all alone. As a rule,
you only bail out the closest of friends (should they need assistance)

He didn't bother thinking twice about the consequences when he chose to get behind the wheel while he was intoxicated! I wouldn't bail him out because he needs to take full responsibility for his actions!

i wouldn't if i were you. there is a reason why he has no friends and family. he probably has taken advantage of them to the point where they don't want anything to do with him. he is probably going to do the same to you if you start helping him out. just leave him be and find someone else who will be responsible and be there for you. he is a waste of your time. hope this helps. good luck.

Nope he would take advantage of you once he gets out. Why don't you think he has anyone--no friends, no family. He's obviously a problematic guy.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Drinking and driving can kill people and he needs to suffer the consequences for putting others at risk...more than once.

Please don't help him. If you haven't knowm him very long, what's the point? He may take advantage of you from the moment you bail him out.
