That is hard to tell since, most brands Dell, Compaq, most Toshibas etc are really made by other companies. They are really Lenvo, Quanta, and Compal. Most laptops really made by other manufacturers in Taiwan. I used to think Toshiba was the best, but that was back when they were made in Japan. Now I don't know.

That depends on who you talk to, but most all name brand laptops are made by ODMs in China. HP. Compaq, Dell, Apple, they all outsource the manufacture of their laptops. That being said, I like HP and Dell laptops. What you are buying is the warranty and the support (drivers, patches, etc.)

hi,

Yes, Dell have lots of complaints.

If you are looking for Windows based laptops then try surfing for

Toshiba brands they are really good with performance.
Sony for multimedia.

if you are looking for performance and multimedia
try MAC Book they are expensive but worth it.

any way the best configuration for best laptop is

CORE 2 DUO PROCESSOR ( ATLEAST 1.83 GHZ)
ATLEAST 512 MB RAM.
ATLEAST 128 MB GRAPHICS CARD.
80-160 GB HARD DISK.

and the rest are up to your interest.

I use a Toshiba Equium, it's decent, high speed, and whenever it goes wrong i can always fix it instantly with the help and repair feature.
I've heard Macs are pretty good too =)

First, Get an extended warranty!!

I really like the new gateways. (cheaper)
The Leveno (IBM) are probably the most reliable. (much more expensive)
Thew new HPs come w/ a lot of extra crap... 2.5 GB worth! (Don't waste your hard drive!)

Again, if you can't fix it yourself, get an extended warranty!

I work part time repairing computers. Good Luck!
