The home I live in was owned by the government. It was a HUD foreclosure. But then I bought it. Now it's mine. But the bank has a lien on it, so it's not really mine. But the title is in my name, so it's really mine.

Yeah, it's mine.

The question isn't very clear. If you have a mortgage, you own the home, but the bank or banks have property rights. If you default they can seize the property to pay the loan. The government has nothing to do with your home ownership.

The US government owns EVERYTHING. If you think I am wrong, try not giving them any money and see how much stuff you have left. OH, and by the time I am done paying for my house, I will have paid the government SIX times the purchase price in property tax!!!!!!

We own our own homes, that's why when we sell them we get to keep al of the money. Most cases don't even owe a dime of tax, if we kept it for 2 years.

There is no way to pay for your house 6 times over by paying the property taxes. Geesh!!
