Um, the laws of gravity and conservation of momentum apply to everyone equally, whether they wear a seatbelt or not. A seatbelt is both safe and for the most part, comfortable. Seatbelts prevent you from being ejected from the vehicle, or from colliding with objects inside the vehicle like the windshield and dashboard, or in the case of a rollover accident, the roof.
When you are driving a car at 50 mph you and the car are both going 50 mph. If the car hits something, it's accelleration is now 0 mph. Unfortunately, you are still going 50 mph, right into whatever is in front of you. If you weigh 100 lbs and are traveling 50 mph, then you will hit the nearest obstacle as if you weighed 500 lbs. A seatbelt means that your forward momentum decelerates at the same time that the car's momentum ceases, preventing you from the collision or ejection.
BTW, it's spelled physics, not pisics.

I am a member of a Volunteer Fire Department and I've seen more wrecks than I can remember.

In a large percentage of wrecks say 80% --seatbelts have little effect.
In some wrecks the seatbelt means the difference in life and death (primarily in ejections).

The thing is that it all depends on how you hit. Sometimes the body can't take being stopped as fast as the car. In these instances there is internal organ damage that can include the tearing of the aorta (a terminal injury). Experts agree that it is better to wear a seatbelt though.

What? I wear a seatbelt every time I'm in the car "in real life" and it's very safe and comfortable. Seatbelts save lives. I assume you have this in your "Physics" class and not your "Pisics" class.

Well.. the function of the seat belt is to hold you in place in case of an accident.. In the case of front collision, the seat belt protects you from the air bag which opens up at the speed of a bullet and can cause death. The seat belt holds you back to protect you from that.. Plus the head rest acts as a shield to not let your head go all the way back and break your neck.. So, the seat belt securely holds you in place to protect you. I guess its all a safety system that works together.

you dont need an ounce of scientific knowledge to know that a seatbelt will help to save you if you need to slam your brakes on or crash at speed.try putting your pet dog or cat on the back seat of your car n shunt down the motorway at 100 n slam your brakes on....watch him fly. Please dont do that just belt up

no seatbelt is comfortable, the lap type will no doubt cause horrific injuries if you do crash - the old car front type dont take up the slack at the point of impact - just try google for crash test results.

What else is going to keep you in your seat against 5G forces? Any pilot, astronaut, race car driver, speed boat driver and even motorist knows that.

PS That proves that motorcycle riders are as crazy as them come.
