If you want to remove everything from your computer use Darik's boot and nuke. http://dban.sourceforge.net/

You could also put in a windows install disk and use fdisk to erase your drive. If you use fdisk someone that has access to the disk could potentially recover the data. darik's boot and nuke makes it pretty hard if not impossible to recover any data on the hard drive

START - MY COMPUTER - Right Click on your hard drive and from drop down menu click Format.

Be warned you will lose everything so make back up copies of important files in My Documents and make sure you have all the software that came with the computer e.g. Windows XP, your CD/DVD burner and any other hardware like printer

create a boot up disc. Also you can go to the manufacture of your hard drive and download software the will help you re-partition your hard drive and delete XP off of it.
