Hell yeah I'd read it!
Kids don't have a right to privacy until they can pay for their own damn house.

Depending on the situation. If I had serious suspicions that he/she was getting involved with really dangerous things/people, I'd probably flip through it but feel like a jerk. If they kept getting arrested, seemed like they were into hard drugs like heroin, etc., or had some sort of shady online relationship with someone who could be a 40 year old man then I'd read the journal. If it was just a 'normal' kid with seemingly 'normal' teenage problems I don't think I'd bother to read it. Even good kids write stuff in their journals that their parents wouldn't want to know about. That's why I never kept a journal as a teen.

I would read it. You should never write anything that will incrminate you so if they've done something wrong and wrote it down, it's their own fault. Besides sometimes you need a little insight into their world.

No i wouldn't read it for the simple fact it would feel weird being around that person knowing his or her secrets, also i wouldn't read it because if i see something i don't like then i cant get mad because i had no business in his or her stuff.

ok read it but under no circumstance do you say anything to him about it ..... I never had one but my father did roll over on me just under a suspicion I didn't even live with him and I didn't do it but the cops were all over my a$$ for months I wasn't even in town when this thing happen to this day I will hold it over his head that I can't or ever will trust him with anything in my life .... moral to the story let you kid mess up on his own but don't put yourself or the rest of your family in jeopardy he just might never trust you again or even like you any more I have to love my father but I don't Like him one bit

My girls are old enough yet, but I remember my mother went snooping in my room once. I hated her for a long time, she blew everything out of proportion. I hope that I would never do that to my girls.
