Silicon and Aluminum are metalloids. They have some properties of metals, but not all. They all fall on the stair-stepped line that begins between Boron and Aluminum.

Of course Carbon and Silicon both form 4 covalent bonds. Though Silicon does not concatenate as much as carbon.

All three a found in the solid state in nature, though Aluminum is not naturally found as a pure metal.

I know! All three can be found in your personal computer! Carbon in the plastic insulation on the wires, aluminum in the heat sink, and silicon in the computer chip!
