Its a double edged sword this answer but here goes anyway...

For someone aged between 5 and 12 the Wii is without a doubt the best console on the market. Its full of innovation (note: I dont believe they are innovative, but everyone says they are, so I guess they are) and their games appeal to the young and people who dont normally get into the games that exist on the serious gamers consoles. However, even for serious gamers it provides light relief from the world of hard gaming and is fun for all the family..awwww !!

However if your over 12 then really there is only one console worth having and that is the 360. Not the PS...but the 360. I shall explain the differences now.

The PS has only slightly better graphic capability than the 360 but costs twice the amount. Even 5 years down the line the PS will still have only slightly better graphic capability than the 360 will. This is known due to the specs on the components. At the moment neither console is anywhere near reaching its capability. The 360 has HD capability whilst the PS has opted for Blu-Ray. HD will win I have no doubt. Why? Because when people hear "HD-TV" they also hear "HD DVD" not "Blu-Ray". By way of association thats why 360 will win that round. At this moment in time people want choice wether to have HD-DVD/Blu Ray capability and Sony have forced this on people by incorporating it into their machine and this has helped push the cost of the PS3 up hugely. But with the 360, as cheap as it is, for only an extra £120 you can buy an HD-DVD add on, choice you see! and...it still comes to less than teh cost of the PS3. With The online element of each there is no comparison. PS3 does not have the PC compatibility that the 360 has so will always be better. Microsoft is miles ahead there. Remember the PS2 online disaster.."hello, anyone here?" The 360 interface is beautiful and changeable whilst the PS is boring and bland.

Finally gaming. The PS no longer has exclusivity deals on any of the best games around. Fifa, GTA, Assasins Creed, Resident Evil...all exclusivity has gone. so its not like owning a PS is going to get you the games any faster. In fact its almost reversed now..the 360 has a years exclusivity on Fifa and PES at the moment. So what possible advantage is there in getting a PS?

The 360 also has backwards capability. It is a misconception that it does not have backwards capability. Yes Microsoft failed at the start to sort this out. But right now there are plenty of games that have backwards capability and there are more and more being added all the time. There is word that Sont have also fallen into this trap and as yet not all their games are backwards compatable. However I cant confirm this.

Sony have been heavily criticised for taking away the 'rumble motion' from their controllers and instead opted for a 'stear your car by moving the controller left and right' (tilt) feature, pretty much like the Nintendo Wii. Its a bit of a comedown from the PS2 controller. For serious gamers this PS3 trick is just a comedown from classic thumb stick and D-pad controlling. The 360 controller in contrast has been heavily praised, it has rumble motion and honestly, speaking from experience the 360 controller just feels better and more weighty. Play for a while using the 360 controller then go back to the PS controller..and...well...all I can say is..you wont want to use a PS controller again.

Now taking away Age in the argument it leaves the Wii and 360 to fight it out. Who wins? The 360 does because it has better gaming period and a more in depth experience especially on line game play.

But who will make the most money? The Wii will. Why? Because there are more kids and non-gamers out there who will buy a Wii than there are 'serious' gamers who will by a 360. That will always be a sad fact of life.

On a plus side for the PS3 it should be noted that it is a good machine and will have quaility gaming but compared to the 360 it is just not anywhere near as good value for money and all the benefits of owning a 360 just simply outway that of owning a PS3. I owned a PS and PS2 and now the 360. I think I am qualified to speak. I have also seen and heard enough of the PS3 to compare as well.

The Wii is the best. I have a Wii and an XBox 360. The Wii is better at all-around "fun", while the XBox has better graphics. While I love the sophistication of the XBox, the Wii gets far more use in my household - and I do not have kids, so it's not all kiddie stuff.

If you want fun, immersive gameplay - get the Wii.
If you are a graphics junkie, or for some reason you must play CDs or DVDs on your game console, I'd recommend the XBox 360.

I don't recommend the PS3 yet. The jury's still out on what that will be all about, it costs a fortune, and doesn't offer much at the moment that the other systems don't.

It depends on the target player.
Basically if the player is young (under 13) or has short playing history the Wii is a must. The older kids are more into XBox 360 or PS3. Currently the XBox 360 has more games and it is cheaper, which makes it a better buy for kids 13-18.

Ah the infamous console war... I would say go for Xbox 360 if you're going just for next gen gaming (alothough online gaming costs). If you're looking for an all around home entertainment system, go for the PS3 since it has a blu ray player, large hard drive, free online gaming, and many free downloads like demos, themes, or even music (VidZone). You can probably tell I have a PS3 =) I am very happy with it.

PS3 hands down!!!

Blue Ray DVD players ALONE are going for a grand!! The PS3 is a gaming system as well as having Blue Ray for $599. Now I'm not saying that $600 isn't a lot of money, but it is worth when you compare. You can still play your PS2 games on it where as XBox360 won't play regular XBox games. The gaming system itself, on the PS3, is so advanced that they haven't even been able to competely utilize all it can do with the games they have out now (way more advanced than the XBox 360 in terms of graphics and extras). The motion sensor remotes are exceptional on it too!! Now when you play a Need for Speed or Madden all you have to do is turn the remote and you'll move... AWESOME!!! PLUS when you go online with the PS3 you can download games right onto the hard drive!! Now you don't even have games to lose like I end up doing sometimes lol

Your best bet if you want the PS3 is do what I'm doing and waiting for the next Grand Theft to come out and buy it then (hopefully it'll cost less by then too hehe). It's usually better to wait anyway, first generation systems usually have bugs (XBox 360 shutting off and burning up like they were).

Wii. It has motion sensing remotes. Do any of the other consoles have that?
