has started having probs with reading the music from cd, as i noticed today. it looks like the reader does not have a continuous reading and plays a while then cuts for a few secs and reads in rough noises not in sleek smooth motion like before. what is the prob here? what should i do? i need to use my laptop daily :(

I have had the same problem with a couple desktop computers of mine. After upgrading the firmware, the problem was resolved. BEWARE upgrading your firmware may cause it to not work at all if you stop the upgrade in the middle!! If you post the model found in device manager, I can probably give you a link to the firmware upgrade you need. You can also try buying a CD-ROM lense cleaner that you can buy at Bestbuy or Circuit City for about $10. GOOD LUCK!

Sometimes it just happens, it is a pretty much a natural problem. Sometime the cd just runs a a very rapid rate and the computer can't keep up. It can also mess up if you do this will carrying or tilting your laptop when using it in your lap. If you think it is techinal. Use your driver reinstall disc.

Hi. Also check that your background programs aren't interfering. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del one time to get to the task manager and look at your processes.

You might have too many programs open. The CPU is distributing access to it. When one program is working the player must wait.
