- Geraint Jones has been improving with the gloves, but has not proved he is worthy of a place in the side as a batting keeper. 6/10
- Chris Read has not shown any form with the bat, but he is good behind the stumps. 6/10
- Paul Nixon is a good gloveman and showed his worth with the willow on Tuesday with a decent 49, but he is really too old to merit selection on a long-term basis. 7/10
- Matt Prior has shown he can bat, but his keeping is not really sound enough to cement him a place in the England team just yet. 7/10
- Stephen Davies has hit the first class scene with a bang and 192, combined with secure glovework, should be enough to give him an opportunity. 9/10
- James Foster has to be the next choice for England keeper. With time on his side, he is an enterprising batsman and a marvellous wicketkeeper, and he gets my vote. 9½/10

Nixon is an absolute joke. He reverse sweeps every other ball, He is however fairly handy behind the stumps. but saving 5-6 byes per game wont win matches. England need a keeper that can actually bat, seeing that they have no really batters more than perhaps 6-7. Foster is the obvious choice, or perhaps davies... i havnt been watching county cricket for awhile, who ever is in form at the moment. By the way, nixon shouldnt even got close to 50. he was lucky not to get out with those rediculous sweeps, then he got dropped twice. then he WAS caught behind off vettori, but was given not out. terrible

particularly, none of them. Ambrose is ineffective with the bat, and his glove-artwork is vulnerable. he's batting out of place (which does no longer help him) and he's lacking any form of self belief. earlier develop into the final batsman out off each and all the wicketkeepers England have tried yet his keeping develop into usually destructive. although he did have some good video games (they have been basically too far aside). Mustard wasn't given a appropriate risk (he in basic terms performed 6 ODIs and a couple of 20/20s), he neglected some balls yet he wasn't undesirable. His batting might have been greater effectual yet he scored some mandatory runs. Jones began particularly nicely yet his keeping with the aid of the Ashes (or perhaps way until now that) develop into dreadful. He neglected too many catches and stumpings too generally. Nixon enable too many balls exceeded him. And his batting wasn't consistent sufficient. And he develop into basically stressful! Plus he develop into too previous, he debuted at 36 so might have in no way gotten a try call-up. i think of Nixon (and assorted different keepers for that rely) ware hampered via the certainty that for the period of their top Alec Stewart had cemented that place for England. No-one might have replaced him they way he performed. the hassle is, the britain selectors are in seek of the subsequent Adam Gilchrist and there basically isn't one in this u . s . a . (hell there is not any longer one everywhere). fairly of attempting to locate a pragmatic Keeper/Batter they want somebody who can catch 10 balls in an innings and score 50s and 100s each and every time they play. that is honest sufficient to declare that keepers in recent times could have the skill to be the two functional with the gloves and the bat yet i think of the selectors have an unrealistic suited of what they are seeking in a keeper. fairly of attempting to locate a superhuman guy like Gilly they might desire to in basic terms communicate reliability, and on the 2nd England have not even found a keeper who can do this on a consistent foundation. that is why they get replaced lots. and that i assume that when the SA series and one dayers they're going to exchange the keeper returned (probable bringing decrease back James Foster).

I'd say Nixon first and then Jones- Read to me looks as if he can't stand fast bowling and gets scared by trying to have a niggle at the quicker ones. Nixon to me looks like to be the man, and seems to be the only one to actually do Average down under
