for almost a year now. I've never had problems spotting nor have I had a period. I just started spotting a few days ago and I have really bad cramps. Is this normal?

Yup its normal!

Depo really messes with your system. I was on it for four years and am so glad I am off of it.

If you are really worried talk to your doctor about it.

Sometimes it happens. The depo shot doesn't have any estrogen and estrogen deficiency can cause spotting, etc. I had a similar problem so my doctor prescribed some estrogen pills to take for awhile which fixed the problem. Unfortunately for me, the problem came back after a year so now I'm on both the depo and a regular BC pill which contains estrogen.

Yes, this is normal. The Depo is an unpredictable birth control method. Check any type of change in behavior going on in your life, as in sudden stress, over exercising, or anything your body has not been use to. This would cause the change.

no worries, i was on it for years and i had spotting or a period every once in a great great while, and the cramps always seemed unbearable when i did have it...so your fine, don't worry......oh and another thing, when i did get it, i had mine for about a month so it might last alot longer than a normal period....just take some tylynol and you'll be fine

It could be normal..i was on the pill for years and then I started spotting..a womans body is always changing. My doc had to put me on a lower dose hormone pill. The best thing to do is talk with your doctor.

I would call your OBGYN....did u just recently get a shot and were you over due for it? If you were it could be any number of things, hormones readjusting, possible pregnancy, but it would be best to call the Dr.
