They have a nervous system. They feel pain.

course they feel pain, the shell is such a sensitive part of the snail and can kill it once it gets cracked and causes alot of pain which in my opinion is cruelty. I have 3 giant African land snails, you have to handle them so delicately because of their shells. I hate to wonder the pain that those snails so through when they get crushed, it's living torture, and of course they feel pain, they have a heart that beats and are living creatures just like we're living human beings, so if we feel pain , then they must go through total agony, because snails have most things we have ...a nervous system

300 years ago black people were said to have no souls and today we know better. I think that animals feel and think a lot more than we give them credit for - especially animals that we can't read the body language of. I think snails do feel some form of pain when they get hurt and I am certain that they would prefer to be alive than dead.

Ouch! The best thing to do with snails is to gather them up and put them on the bird table. Make lovely treats for the birds.

They are a pest and everyone gets rid of them one way or another

As for pain I don't know - they are wired up differently to humans but crushing probably means they don't feel that pain for long - better than poisoning

Thats squeamish! They do feel pain, but I expect most of us swat flies and wasps. Its cruel to torment them and prolong the suffering, but a quick death isn't cruelty in my book.
Do you also object to her killing aphids? Or do you see that as somehow different? She's managing her garden. In the old days she's be killing and plucking poultry and rabbits for the table as well!
Unless you're a stict vegan I wonder if you're upset by the sight of your wife squashing the things or their suffering?

they might not feel pain in the same way as a more advanced animal. As they have a nervous system they do react to stimuli like when u touch them they go in their shell dont they. I dont think its too inhumane really spose its a quick way to get rid of them!!!

Yes they do. If you watch snails eating slug pellets..they roll over and blow out bubbles...thats the sign of feeling pain.

Glad someone else crushes them like me. They eat plants and ruin them so I have no feelings for the wretched things at all!!!
