Data Entry Specialist enters data into the computer. If they enter numbers only, it requires 10 Key by touch and it is referred to as numeric data entry. If you are typing addresses or letters/numbers then it is alpha numeric data entry. Most data entry positions where I live (Southern California) make a minimum of $10 hourly. However, they can make up to $ 15 hourly. Especially, if they have 10,000 KSPH and 99-100% accuracy rate. However, it may pay different depending on geographic location.

It's probably someone who does data entry all day. In other words: someone who sits at a computer and enters information all day long. The pay rate depends on many factors such as the company and the level of complexity of the data. Plus, if the level of education that the company requires (some data entry people need only a HS diploma, others require a college degree and some even require graduate work).

You enter data into a database. Usually data from paper forms or emails.
You need to have good Typing and 10-key skills, and basic PC familiarity.
It usually is entry level type pay, but may be a foot in the door to a better paying job if you can put in the time.

Data Entry Specialist
Organizations need to process a rapidly growing amount of information. Data entry and information processing workers help ensure the smooth and efficient handling of information. By keying in text, entering data into a computer, operating a variety of office machines, and performing other clerical duties, these workers help organizations keep up with the rapid changes that are characteristic of today’s “Information Age.” The median pay is $23,250

My assumption is that a person delivers a pile of documents and the data entry specialist enters the information into a computer system.
I can't imagine that this type of job would pay very well.

I used to be a data entry specialist. I would get information about customers, such as names phone numbers and such and enter them into a database on a computer. It all depends on the company. Sometimes you'll have to type in orders or other information. I got paid about ten dollars an hour. It's so boring you'll want to take your own life with the stapler next to your keyboard. LOL

Anything from typing - Mr B lives at long lane - to 3 men live in a house!
Its basically taking information and putting it into a database!
12K a year if your lucky!
Its not about that though - you can always work your way up the chain of employment!
3rd class employment is better than 1st class unemployment any day!!

usually not really. It is someone who sits there and types data into a computer. It takes very little skills and is tedious.
You will need good typing skills and a basic knowledge of computers though. About the level it takes to get through high school keyboard class.
