i have a 500mb download can and im trying to save!!...when i close my internet explorer and ensure that im not downloading anything....my download meter still goes up by a great amount...why is this so...how can i let ny connection idle without using mb

Check for other programs running in the backgroud. Also it can be autoupdates from microsoft.
Use netstat -a in a dos window to check open connections
or better use a program called Essential Net Tools to trace the open connections

What do you mean "i have a 500mb download"?
Is that a limit, why the hell do you have a download limit in this day in age? Your internet package must be from the 1990's.
Scrap it and get an unlimited connection.

Hi. Once a download starts it can sometimes continue even though your browser is closed.
