Wow! That's quite the generalization of women. That's just like me askings, "Hey, why are most men clueless jerks?" I hope your question is in reference to the women who put on so much make-up, a chisel is required to remove it. If so, read below.

There are several reasons. The main one being is that the American Society and our culture has taught women that they are sexual objects of men and we must look perfect to attain happiness. Make-up if a form of decoration. Women pick up make-up tips in several ways: from the other women in their family, friends, theater class, cosmotology schools, magazines, and the other countless forms of media. Some of the techniques taught or passed down are bad. There are women out there who just don't realize they have too much make-up on. Women rely on friends, family, co-wokers and the flirtatious looks of men to judge their make-up style. Having said that, not too many people are brave enough to walk up to her and tell her the make-up job is bad. Nonetheless, these women have the best intentions in mind.

The second reason is that make-up hides two things. Either a physical scar or an emotional insecurity. People have strong opinions on whether or not to use make-up in either fashion. I'm sure this will create another debate here on Answers.

The third is FUN and ATTITUTE. Women know make-up is an art form and they use their face as a canvas. Not only is it fun, because of the sense of accomplishment, self-confidence is boosted. Women know make-up is a projection of their image.

Now, go experiment with make-up and see how hard it is yourself to apply it and keep it to an art form at the same time that shows your true intention without caking it on! If you need more education, read "The Beauty Myth" by Naomi Wolf.

No idea... some days I wear none but some days I wear a lot (of eye makeup), but I actually know how to apply makeup so it doesn't look like I'm wearing pounds of makeup. I'm not a "cake face."

I don't know why a lot of girls put so much on.. the worst is mascara, when they put tons on and it clumps. Ugh.

i dont think its most i think its some. some do because they r insecure. they feel bad about them self they think makeup will help them feel better bout themself when really its kinda like theyr masking themselves. maybe thats there aim though. some like the way they look with lots of makeup or they THINK they look good with it and ther friends and family just dont tell them it looks bad or is overboard so if thats the case its not really ther fault they think it looks good. someone just has to suggest a lil less without makin them defensive. some think guys like it. the more makeup the hotter guys think they r. who knows why that logic is used. i mean i personally think makeup is just for highlighting how beautiful WE are not our makeup. some girls dont realize that we should want people to see us not your makeup. so if we r good at doing our makeup and its not piled on and we get a LOT of compliments we no its the truth.
but i no what your talkin about!

I guess it is because they were not taught by their mothers or other girls the right way to put it on. I agree nothing looks worse than a girl or woman who looks like they put on their makeup with a pie spatula.

Usally, Girls put on pounds of make-up because they want to impress someone. Like if they have a crush at school, they think putting on pounds of make-up will make them more beautiful.

i agree with the fact that it is probably insecurity. but it also might be because celebrities always seem to have the perfect skin and it might make some girls' self esteem go down because they want flawless skin as well. thing is celebrities usually have their skin airbrushed and when they have absolutely no make up on they look...well not like their usual selves. so girls should use little make up just to accentuate their features. lots of make up does not necessarily make you look better, but more unnatural.

Insecurity would be my best guess. I think some makeup in moderation to play up features isn't a bad thing, though.

because some of them think they look pretty with make up. or some try to hide the bad things on their face like scars or pimple. and some girls put on make up just because they are potential prostitutes.

FOR MANY REASONS SOME TO LOOK OLDER SOME TO LOOK PRETTIER AND SOME ARE JUST PLAIN CLUELESS ON HOW TO WEAR MAKE UP ALSO SOME WEAR MAKE UP TO LOOK YOUNGER, THIS LAST ONE BECAUSE FOR SOME GIRLS THAT WEAR MAKE UP ALL THE TIME, AFTER THEY TEND TO LOOK OLD WITH OUT MAKE UP AND SOME GIRLS USE IT TO COVER BAD SKIN BUT WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW IT'S THAT LESS IS MORE AND BETTER THEY NEED TO KNOW TO TO APPLY IT THAT'S ALL BUT WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL I HAD SOME FRIENDS WHO EVEN DOUGH WE TOLD THEM THEY WERE WEARING ALOT OF MAKE UP THEY WERE LIKE "WE KNOW WE LIKE IT LIKE THAT" SO EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN REASON SO TO EACH THEIR OWN

Usually it's because they weren't taught properly, so they figure the more the better. Or it's because they're not that pretty and they want to cover up. Personally, I think it makes them look like hookers.
