Americans are very patriotic, & knowledge of their nation's history drives their patriotism. My question to you is how come so many Canadians hate Americans? We may be allies, but the anti American rhetoric (even in western Canada) may surprise some.

Probably because we are very much alike even though the backgrounds of the countries are different in many ways, we know they are our friends and allies and we take them too much for granted.
