I know some states in USA allow it, but some also have restrictions e.g you have to be related, have to have lived with them fro a set amount of ime etc. I'm interested in finding other countries with no/few restrictions.

Thanks!x

Sorry, I obviously wasn't clear.

In some countries, it is possible to adopt an adult for a variety fo reasons NOT including slavery, sponsorship etc. That is something completely different. It can be for wills, to formalise an existing parent-child relationship with someone you're not related to etc.

If anyone does know of any countries, I'd appreciate them letting me know. If not, please look at other questions and don't bother answering this one.

Thank you.

If anyone does know of any countries (without the adoptee being handicapped as a condition of the adoption), I'd appreciate them letting me know. If not, please look at other questions and don't bother answering this one.

Thank you.

Just for those who negatively responded to this posting: Many states allow the adoption of adults. Adults are usually adopted to ensure that they will inherit the estate of their adoptive parents. For instance, a man adopting an adult male heir.

For an allotment of a small sum per month you can adopt a gran. You will help an older person (as i have done in Africa) live a better life. This can be done direct from your pay or your bank account. Just look around for the respective charities. Good Luck.

Surely an adult doesn't have to be adopted, you get to adult age and you can make your own choices where to live...
