Hi, I am a 23 year old man and have been working in a bank for almost three years. Up until a few months ago I had a very good relationship with my managers who saw me as a very committed, hard working man with very good prospects. However, over the last few months I have seen their attitude toward me decline. This is because of a woman who has worked in the bank for around 10 years. Everytime she has made a mistake or an error she runs to my manager like a school kid and blames me. Recently, we lost £40,000.00 because of an error SHE made, but she has told management that it was my fault. I have tried to plead my innocence but I have been labelled the cause of this. My work environment has increasingly become unbearable due to this woman's unnacceptance to admit to her faults.
What should I do?
Please help, this is my livelihood at stake!

$40,000.00 is a lot of money surely they would have investigated it thoroughly enough to work out that it wasn't you. If not then I think they are incompetent also. I would be going to a higher authority, and complaining about managements lack of professionalism as well as your colleagues. Don't leave, you shouldn't have to. good luck. don't let them win.

I have to question just how much of this the management believes. 40k is a lot of money to loose, and since you weren't fired, they must have thier doubts. Best thing you can do is distance yourself as much as possible (if possible). Try to make sure that whatever your doing, you are not around her. You can't be guilty if your not there. Take notes of everything you do (within reason). I know a lot of people are telling you to find another job, but the only reason people act like this is because they know it makes others quit. To hell with her, don't let her run you off. IF YOU QUIT -- do not give a long winded letter of resignation. It will sound like you got mad and went out the door pointing fingers. In other words, childish. That wouldn't be a problem expect that it's in ink, they have it, and potential employers may call them.

Look for a new job. When you interview though, don't speak bad about your former employer.
Optionally, document everything! Document all the negativity that she shows to you, and everything that she does wrong. Specifically document the cases that you did your job properly, yet something went wrong. After you have a few weeks of WRITTEN notes on everything that goes on, approach your manager with it. If you are concerned that your manager is not going to support you, then approach his manager and ask that the three of you sit down together (the boss, bosses boss and you).
Good luck!

Take issue of it at the time it happens. Directly address your supervisors and let them know your observations, and why the mistake is not your fault. Being unable to humble yourself and admit a mistake can be very embarassing because its not very mature of character.

sounds pretty simple..banks have some pretty high security..If it was her mistake, then it would be easy to find the mistake on "her" computer, or it will be on camera..
