pod casts are recordings from the net that you can download onto an mp3 player
have a look on some of your favourite radio stations and see what pod casts they offer
some of them have 'subscribe'to podcasts - there is no charge for this but it sets your computer to retrieve the latest episode for you

A podcast is kind of like a little radio programme. It can be 5 minutes long, 30 minutes long or even longer in some cases. You can download them from various websites but i tend to use itunes. You can get video podcasts which are just like audio podcasts but obviously with a video. My favourite is Best of Moyles because i think its hilarious. Its half an hour of the best bits from his radio show all week. Every week or day, it varies with each podcast, they will be downloaded (automatically if you use itunes) and straight to your ipod or mp3 player. Hope this helps!

A podcast is a media file that is distributed by subscription (paid or unpaid) over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.
Though podcasters' web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other digital audio formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically, using software capable of reading feed formats such as RSS or Atom.

they are like audio shows. you download them to your ipod, so that you can listen to them whenever you want. you can also subscribe to certain programs so that itunes can automatically download them for you when there's a new program available.
