take Achelese as an example.. he was asked by his mother, what he prefered, to live a long simple, quiet life amongst friends and family who love him and will remember him after his gone... but when they r gone and their grandkids r gone, too. his memory will fade and he will be forgotten.

on the other hand, if he decides to live a short, violent, full of adventure and adversity life..he will remain in eterinity...with an immortal memory to leave behind. everyone will know his name and will remember what he did.

so in fewer words, if u make life a big deal and want to savor it, u just die and thats it. no one else will remember u. but if u say "to hell with it!" and just live for the moment, then u will "live" forever...

thats how i understand it, anyway...

Just one of the absurdities & cruelties of life. When it's your time, it's your time. Some people want to live & love life & yet may die tragically & unexpectedly while others who live recklessly & seem to have a death wish seem to keep escaping it. Some people smoke cigars into their 90's & never get cancer, while someone else may get lung cancer from second-hand smoke. Is life fair? No. Is it predictable? Does it make sense? No. Do we have a choice? No.

That's life. I guess the point is to enjoy your life. Don't cling to it to the point that you're overly cautious & never take a risk. You could die even in your own home (where most accidents happen). When death comes for you there's no escape. You might as well live a little. I don't think you should necessarily defy death by taking wild & dangerous risks though some people choose this as a lifestyle or even a career. No one is invincible. Eventually it does catch up with them. Daredevils may get injured & even killed during stunts. Look at that australian guy that ended up killed by a stingray after all his daring animal encounters...

It appears to be another way of repeating John 15:12-14
12This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Don't be selfish with your life or love while you are alive and humanly capable of doing so. Share yourself by doing good works for others. Be so concerned about the welfare of others that you seem to be unconcerned about your own personal safety. For there is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear.

That's what I think.

those who desperately cling to life are compared to weak minded, constitutionless people who can not save them selves, so they will surly die

those who defy death, stand up and fight in dire situations, so they will surly live.

it means you have no say in what happens.so cruel when people have so much to stay for or so it would seem, but there time is up.then there are people who think there is nothing here for them and they try to leave and end up staying, then they sometimes are glad they got another chance in a way.
have thought about this a lot.it is all planned so you just have to accept it.

Those that hold life so dear that they're afraid to act aren't truly living, while those that live on the edge are more aware that they are alive.

It can be also said as 'those who give up easily falls down and will not survive; those who never gives up will not fall easily, instead they survive.
