Who sings the original version of "Don't cry for me Argentina"?

It is from the musical "Evita" and I think it was first recorded with Patti LuPone starring as Evita. Madonna starred in the movie so she had a version out. She was actually quite good in the movie.

The original 1978 Broadway cast did indeed star Patti LuPone. However, the original London cast recording was released the same year, and it starred Elaine Page. Take that for what you will, I suppose.
