I currently work for a dazed and confused construction company doing anything asked of me.... my normal activities are bill pay, invoicing, relaying phone and email messages and accounting. My company is ran by really by noone... I make my own hours.. if I want time off I take time off... if I want to leave early I leave early and I do not work nights and weekends. All of these things are great because I am a student finishing up my junior year of college. However, I hate being left all alone in this office all day! I crave interaction! Sooo a good friend of mine works @ MAC (makeup) I go and visit her at work frequently..this prompted her manager to offer me a job! Normally you have to have @ least 2 years experience to work @ MAC and I have none, so this is an extreme opportunity and honor. I would get a $4. pay increase. My dilema..my job is easy and I like having the weekends & nights to study, but I could work 10 hours less a week @ MAC and still make the same $. What should I do?

Also... I just wanted to say I would be working for MAC not merely at a MAC counter in a department store. Ha.. I must say that I laughed out loud @ the person who said they would not like to work for a dazed and confused company... because ulimately dazed and confused companies always go under and take you with them... so true... this current job is not gaining me anything... experience or work ethic and the easyness may not last long because I could be out of a job due to my employers lack of knowledge when it comes to managment and finance. Hmm... thoughts.. I am just needing to be BRAVE! It's hard to switch jobs especially to move to another job that is going to be such an extreme change! Courage is what I am lacking! I think that taking the new job is a great opp. and that I will benefit so much as a person from it ie:happiness and a chance to learn a new trade! Self growth... thanx for the encouragment!!

You will not get anywhere without some effort and sacrifice. Unless of course you have rich relatives, political connections, etc.
I wouldn't want to work for any company that was "dazed and confused". Dazed and confused = suddenly out of a job when they go under. Or your paycheck bounces.

Don't be afraid to start a new job. Just jump in! When it's over and you're adjusted, you'll be glad you did.

I would take the MAC job, it's time for a change. the salary jump is huge! You'll get used to the change in hours, and while in retail you may have to work some evenings and weekends (especially at first when youre new) you will enjoyo having some weekdays off.

Well in America Spanish because we are having such a huge influx of Hispanic immigrants who aren't as well versed in English. However on a global scale French would be better if you were going to work internationally (outside of Spanish countries).

At the MAC counter you will have to work holidays and more than likely, weekends. Besides, you have the internet at your current job that can keep you busy.

Why are you asking total starngers to settle this. Take a deep breath and relax. The question should be why am I afraid to accept new challenges, or why am I stuck in this job that bores me? maybe you should answer these questions yourself. Good luck.

Where would you be the happiest? If you are happy where you are until you get out of school, stay. If you feel like you would be happier at the new place, then take the new job.

You have to ask yourself where you want to be in five years and figure out what you are willing to sacrifice to obtain a better life style.

I believe you already know the answer.
