If the courts have bothered to issue a subpeona then they are worried that you will not turn up in court, so if you don't a warrant could be issued for your arrest and you will end up in the police cells, until you can explain to the judge why you couldn't be bothered to turn up to court - pretty scary...?
Just get it over with, and good luck!

The word "subpoena" is actually Latin, and it means roughly "under pain of" or "under penalty of" . It is an order of the court directing a person to appear at a trial or hearing or deposition. This is the right of the parties in a lawsuit to compel witnesses to attend and give testimony in court regarding the issues at trial. A witness who willfully fails to appear is subject to arrest, and to being held in contempt of court. It is usually a fine, and it can also be a misdemeanor, allowing a jail sentence.

For Florida, the Rule of Civil Procedure 1.410(f), states failure by any person without adequate excuse to obey a subpoena served upon that person may be deemed a contempt of the court from which the subpoena issued. Rule of Criminal Procedure 3.361(d) states a witness who refuses to obey a subpoena or who departs without being excused properly may be held in contempt. Further Section 38.23, Florida Statutes, states a refusal to obey any legal order, mandate or decree, made or given by any judge either in term time or in vacation relative to any of the business of said court, after due notice thereof, shall be considered a contempt, and punished accordingly.

If you don't show up then the sheriff will probably be at your door with a warrent for your arrest. You will become a guest of the government at there cross bar motel until the next court date. Go to court.
