He's no more a bigot than anybody else who was born around 1920 and grew up between the wars, absorbing whatever people in those days thought were perfectly normal attitudes and mild prejudices. Why should he be expected to update his views and attitudes to suit modern people? Why should not young, intelligent, energetic modern people be expected to make some effort to understand where he's coming from, instead of mindlessly shouting "Bigot"?

Prince Philip has some doozie quotes...this one is my favorite ones "It looks as if it was put in by an Indian" pointing at an old-fashioned fusebox in a factory near Edinburgh in 1999. I don't know if he's a real bigot, but he reminds me of everyones uncle who says stupid stuff.
