I have both licenses. One took me over a year and was a 2000 hour program, the other took me 20 hours and I took the class over a weekend.

I think the most highly of the person who does their job well and with a winning attitude, regardless of what their job might be.
You obviously have an interest in both areas, so whichever you do, if you do it well, people will think highly of you. I noticed a lot of people made reference to how much pay you can earn with both professions, some were inaccurate, but I think that you are more worried about esteem than pay because you never mentioned pay in your paragraph, but you did mention that you want to know who we would think more highly of.
Prestige is earned by proving to clients that you can get the job done and thus your reputation is built, regardless of which job you are doing for them.

Isn't it funny that we live in a society that believes the hard worker who makes less money is a worthy person compaired to someone who is paid 10,000 in a day or a month for less effort? We see how much a person makes and if it's astronomically high for what they do, then we say "It's criminal!"

Where did that menatlity come from? The poor people who work hard are cool and the rich people are evil. When did we, as a people, throw our common sense out the window when it comes to earning money?

A hairdresser is making steady money which is not enough to survive in this world, but money to eat and pay for rent none the less. A Real Estate agent is working in a world where it is no longer a buyers market, so they are also struggling right now.

The only Real Estate agents I know of making great money are someones daughter or son of a major construction company with exclusive territory. They are obviously making more money than a hair dresser, but these are special circumstances.

The Real Estate boom is over. A hairdresser works very hard.

I know of a hair dresser who figured out how to beat the limited pay in her profession, she works my home business around her work.

She recommends the products we sell while she is cutting hair and is currently making 10,000 US a month. She loves her hair dressing job and hasn't quit, but it has allowed her to take time off and pursue her dream as a screen writer.

How did she do it? Her customers come in and complain about a runny nose or asthma or hormonal problems and she just pulls out the products and says you need this and this... and whammo... her business grew in that manner over a three year time frame, because her customers know her and trust her and couldn't keep their mouths shut about the products.

Thinking outside the box,

LLJames

Well to tell the truth I think hairdressers are because everyday they handle people who are more often than not, not very appreciative of how difficult their job is. I have heard many people say that hairdressers are slow class trash but I truly do not believe that. They are people like you and I and I think that their job is probably harder than that of a real estate agent. When we bought our house there were a lot of problems with it and the real estate agent knew about them but did not tell us. I think that a hairdresser has more integrity.

I agree with the previous answer. I think much more highly of a hairdresser than a realtor. Realtors are just out there to rip people off. I know, I write software for real estate companies, and they make a killing on the insignificant amount of work they do.

They're both the same. A good Hairdresser is great as is a good realtor, actually a good realtor is almost impossible to find. whereas a bad hairdresser or realtor will never get any business.

Whatever you chose to do just make sure you're the best.

Real Estate Agents are out to get you (i.e. it's a one time deal)
Hairdressers want to keep you happy (i.e. they want you to come back)

I trust a good hairdresser more than a good REA

The real estate agent will have worse credit, though the access to many, many homes and a LOT of money makes me think of it more highly.

The hairdresser is the high school dropout who had nothing better to do. Most places don't even offer maternity leave.
