i would like to do a fundraiser for my Girls Scouts Troop by hosting a video game swap and sale. People could bring their used equipemnt and sell it or swap it with others. Is this legal?

Yes-- it has to do with the "first sale" doctrine, which states that once you buy a legal, licensed copy of a work, you can do whatever you want with it (with some exceptions like mutilating it, amending it and selling it as your own work, etc.). But simply reselling it is fine (so long as you're reselling the original, NOT a copy that you've made, and NOT keeping a pirated copy).

Completely legal, and if it wasn't I doubt you'd get an negatove action from something small on the scale of things and with the purpose you have in mind. Good luck with the swap and sale!

Yes it is legal, provided you sell the complete game and do not retain any copies / installed programs of it.

Good way to get to know games cheap ;)
