I have a 360 with the hard drive. I need to return my unit because I get constant disc read errors.

How can I back up my games from the hard drive without buying a proprietary memory card?

I am connected to the network if that helps.

I understand that i can't use the usb ports to connect my thumbdrive either.

short answer: No. reason: besides the reality that that's the comparable game, the ps3 and the 360 talk 2 totally diverse languages. the sport's programming language isn't remotely comparable. dropping a 360 save onto a PS3 or vice versa could be like dropping you into the heart of China to invite for a bagel. you does no longer understand what to do, and neither could they. The document format shape is quite diverse for Sony products than for Microsoft products.

As far as I know, you can't do it without a memory card. Your profile only saves any achievements you have earned in the games that you have played.

Keep your hard drive if it's working and just return the unit by itself. Call ahead to make sure that it is ok to do that. There is no reason they would want a used HD.
