When an ex-husband is paying spousal support..?
and decides to remarry, will he have to continue to pay spousal support? If so does the amount stay the same, or is it raised or lowered depending on new wife's income?

If he remarries it stays the same - if he's lucky enough to get the exwife to remarry then he is off the hook.

I will never understand spousal support - why the hell can't these women get off their butts and WORK? (ya know that whole equal rights things we've fought so hard for....??)

Spousal support is generally connected to whether you remarry or not, not the spouse paying it.

Look at the court order. It should specify any and all details.

You're the only one who knows this; you have the court order and that's why they are paying. It can only be modified based on the terms of the order, or by getting another one.

It will only be lowered or discontinued if YOU remarry. In some states child support can be raised when the spouse that pays remarries, but I don't think the new wife should have to pay to support his Ex-wife.

spousal support will stay the same until you remarry then it most likely will change depends on the state u live in.

It has nothing to do with his wife's income. If there is a court order against him, that will stay in force regardless of his marital status. He might apply to have the amount reduced if he can show that his new family is taking more of his money, but generally he's stuck with the original judgement.

Stays the same, and I think you would have a hard time finding a judge to take his new wifes income into consideration. Good luck.

He would still have to pay the same in my state but the new wife's income would have nothing to do with it.

STAYS THE SAME

Since it's based on what the wife and family need, I assume that's the answer.

Good luck.
