There are cases of girls as young as 5 years old starting their periods... which technically means they can conceive a child.
I'd tell someone, if for no other reason than if your cousin lied they need to know. And if your cousin is telling the truth, this could be a sick situation and an adult should know anyway.

Well, she may be saying what she "believes" is the truth. It is possible that her friend is lying or doesn't understand pregnancy and is confused that she may be. It is VERY unlikely that an 8 year old is pregnant, but not impossible. I think you should bring it up with someone, either your parents or if you can, the "pregnant" girl's family.

My daughter started her period at 8 and she was in the 3rd grade It scared me so bad because I had never heard of a child starting there period so young I called her Pediatrician and she said it was possible if this child is being molested she may very well be pregnant I would call the school and talk with her teacher to check this out with the child and if it is true maybe the school can call social services.

As most anwerers said, it is possible to be pregnant at age 8. I say you should tell someone regardless if she's truely pregnant or not, because an 8 year-old has no business being sexually active! She is being raped or either has had poor supervision. She needs medical attention and counseling(perhaps even foster care)immediately!!!!!!!!!! Tell someone(a teacher, a parent, a school nurse, anyone who can help)

it could be that she is pregnant some girls get there period at 8 through 14 its rare but it can still happen tell your cousin to invite her friend over and have her do a test and if its positive tell her parents OMG a little 8 year old girl having sex its just wrong but i doubt shes pregnant she is too young

I highly highly doubt that it is true...I am pregnant now and my little sister in law (around the same age as your cousin's friend) looks up to me and copies everything that I do! Once I began to show in pregnancy and people asked me how I was feeling, and me describing the baby kicking...she started saying that she felt pregnant! I think she doesn't realize what she's saying and is just trying to be like me...This could be the case with your cousin's friend...maybe someone close to her is pregnant too.

this can be very true. the average girl gets her first period at bout age 12 or 13, but it is possible that it can happen much earlier.
in my country an 8 year old did get pregnant!!
she was a victim of child abuse though, and ended up giving the baby up for adoption, well her grandmother raises him(it was a boy), and the father (who actually was a family member) was arrested and charged.

Maybe not, but the doubt could be an alert sign for something else. It will not hurt to simply ask her if she has been bothered in some way that makes her uncomfortable or that makes her believe she's pregnant.

It actually could be possible. If she has already started her menstral cycle and she is sexually active she could very well be pregnant at 8, but honestly the chances an 8 year old being pregnant is very rare. I wouldn't believe it
