It is called a Biosphere. & this one is exceptionally easy to do.

Supplies:
A large jar with a lid
A small potted plant that can inside the jar with room to spare
Some water
And area of the house that get sunlight most every day
A piece of masking tape or a marker

Introduction - Since plants produse their own food, they need not get it from an outside source. Under the right conditions, then, plants are self-sustaining.

Procedure:

A. Water the plant so that the soil in the pot is moist.
B. Put the potted plant into the jar & close the lid so that the plant is enclosed in the jar.
C. Mark the height of the plant on one side if the jar. You can do this with a piece of masing tape or a marker.
D. Place the jar next to a window or in some other area that is well-lit. It can even be left outside as long as the outside temperature stays pleasant.
E. Check on the plant every few days. Note whether or not it grows. Let it sit for at least 30 days.

In this experiment, you will see that the plant will stay alive & even grow. Despite the fact that it is enclosed it the far. How does it stay alive? Well, you provided it with some water, & there was some carbon dioxide in the air that was in the jar. Since you placed it in sunlight, the plant will use the energy of sunlight, that water in the soil, & the carbon dioxide in the air surrounding it to make glucose & oxygen.

When the plant needs energy, it will convert the glucose into energy. It takes oxygen to do that, but oxygen will be produced when the glucose is made. So there will be plenty of oxygen available. When the glucose is converted to energy, water & carbon dioxide will also be produced. See? That makes it self-sustaining.

I found this project amazing. There you go! I hope that does you some good.
