Read a lot of magazines with good ads, and study the writing in the best of those ads. Then, try to write ads that have the feel, the emotion, and the quality of those ads. Do the same with TV ads. Pick one campaign that you like, and practice writing by creating a new ad that is based on that campaign.

Practice writing every night. If you have any contacts who own a small business, it's a good idea to offer your ad ideas to them -- for free, just to get yourself into print.

Once you feel you have reached a decent level of quality in your ad writing, approach ad agencies in London (start with the big ones) and try to get an internship -- again, do it for free. Once you're inside the agency, you can get a real feel about how things work there. And, you will develop your skills even further.

I owned a AAAA ad agency for many years, and young people who asked for this type internship often wound up in full-time jobs with my firm, and it launched their ad careers.

Good luck.
