Guppies are food for bettas. It depends on the size of the guppy not the color. I can't put my betta with my guppies. He eats them.

It's not that they go after color per say. They are attracted to the Male Guppies tail. It's constant waving can be seen as a territory invasion. Bettas like quiet and putting a male guppy with a male Betta will cause the same issue as if you put two Betta males together. The smaller the tank the more aggression will be seen. So the answer is no, not by color but by shape.

It's the shape of the fish, and fins. The non fancy finned guppies will be about as good as most fish. Just keep in mind compatibility with betta depends on the size of the tank, and the betta's temperament.

Well, it's best not to put other fish in with your male bettas in the first place. If you do put fish in with them, don't use barbs! They'll eat at the fins. If you use guppies, I would say not to put in guppies that are somewhat smaller than the betta. It COULD eat the guppy.

Not really. A betta who goes after one fish will go after them all the same. The waving tail fin is a problem as somebody already mentioned.

its an iffy answer. some bettas are fine with guppies. some are not. if you want to experiment be ready to lose some fish. some bettas are really not fighters at all and some will shred just about anything it can find.

It's not about the colour, it's about the tail. When bettas flare at each other, they puff themselves up and fan their tails. If they see other fish with long, big, flowly fins, they can mistake them for another male and flare at teh finny fish.

In my experience, most bettas and fine with most guppies. If you're planning on putting them together, just try to avoid guppies with ultra long tails and have a backup plan in case your betta is just an ornery old bugger.
