I started within a week after knowing I was pregnant with all my kids.If you buy 2-5 things every week then you will have everything you need for the baby when he/she is born.I do not trust a ultrasound to tell the sex of the baby. They have been wrong alot. The only reason why some people wait until later in pregnancy to buy for the baby is because they have a history of miscarrying.I also bought t-shirts,socks,little outfits, sleepers a boy/girl could wear and crib, stroller, car seat, bottles and recieving blankets and little blankets made for both boy/girl.Would buy 2 bags of diapers and 2 boxes of wipes. When the baby was born I had plenty of time to relax at home and enjoy my baby then I would go buy clothes for the certain sex. With me it was always a boy.All 6 times.Buying for a baby is fun and exciting.Start now and enjoy.

I'm 23 weeks and have only bought baby booties to attach to a blue ribbon that says "It's a boy!!!" and hang from my car and my fiancee's. We also invested in a good digital camera so we could photograph my bursting tummy, and the real shopping won't start until probably my 7th month. Of course, if you find sales on clothes that the baby will quickly outgrow (like onesies and booties), then you should buy them if you'd like. It's a personal choice, really, but I've heard stories of people buying TOO much for their baby and since I live in a small apartment, I want to avoid that. If you're worried about the expenses piling up all at once during your last few months, be smart and start a savings account. My fiancee and I were able to save a lot in just a matter of a few months!

I started buying some things about week 15. You know, non gender items like bath tub, vibrating chair thingy, play mat, books, non gender clothing...t-shirts etc. I was also shopping at church sales and flea markets...so I pretty much had to grab up barely used items for great deals when I found them. But I didn't register until after my ultrasound.
Man that seems like ages ago now.
And quite honestly, I was shocked at how few people even pay attention to your registry, they buy what they want no matter what. And not to mention the ones that do, don't turn it in to get the items removed, so I got alot of duplicates at my shower...just keep all your receipts and don't wash all your clothes until you know that the baby will wear them...incase they grow out of them before they get too wear them...that way you can take them back and exchange them.

WEll myself in 31 weeks, I just started to buy things last week, If someone is going to throw you a baby shower I would wait untill after that. Start buying gift cards and put them away so then you can go out and buy everything after the shower. I wouldnt buy things too early cause you never know if someone might want to get somthing for you!!

I am 36 weeks and just started buying things 2 weeks ago! I am a procrastinator though, I would start buying little things now, I never had a baby shower or anything so I was waiting to see if anyone was going to send me anything, and they never did, so I had to buy everything at pretty much the last minute.

I am 22 weeks, and we just finished our registry. We did start buying furniture. We are buying one piece at a time so the prices don't kill us. We should have all the nursery furniture by the time I am 24 weeks. Everything else I am going to wait on to see what I get at the baby shower. We don't know our baby's gender...so I am not buying many outfits. The neutral clothes just aren't as cute.

Start buying now, adding to your registry, etc. By the time you hit your third trimester, you're going to be too tired to do a lot of walking through malls and decorating the nursery. A head start is a very good thing.
