The formula

amount = base x percent

Find the amount when the base ans percent are known

30% of 70 equals what amount

first convert 30% to decimal

remove the % sign. divide 30 by 100 to get the decimal

30 / 100 = 0.3

multiply 70 times the decimal

70 x 0.3 = 21

The amount is 21

Percentages, for some reason, seem easier to read than fractions or decimals.

let's say an occurance is 3 times out of every 10, then you devide 3 by 10=.3 then multiply by 100 for 30%

If you need to convert a Percentage to a decimal, simply divide by 100.
