What species of alien is Yoda? I heard it once and never again, so I have forgot what he is, but he isn't the only one of his kind that lived on Degoba. Anyone know?

Yoda is sometimes called a Whill, however officially, his species is unknown. Yoda is the only one of his kind that lived on Dagobah, but he lived there because of the dark force that emanated from the planet. There is another one of Yoda's species named Yaddle, and she appears on the Jedi Council in Episode I.

George Lucas has intentionally kept the name of Yoda's race a secret. (Yoda, Yaddle, and Vandar Tokare are sometimes erroneously referred to as Whills, despite Lucas' insistence that they are not.) In fact, very little is reported of Yoda's life before the events of The Phantom Menace. Cheers!

It is never specified, and he moved to Dagobah to hide from Vader. He is supposedly a Whill, but it isn't confirmed.

He is a Whill. And he was the only one on Dagobah. He was there in exile. It is not his native planet.
