I want to record a tutorial of a music program for YouTube and am wondering how some people manage to get a perfect capture of their screen for the tutorial without holding a mobile phone up to the pc. Is there a program / device / way of doing this so I can perfectly have a recorded video of everything I have done on the screen?

Press "Prt Scr" (normally found on the top row of a keyboard). This only works for static images though. If you want to record a moving picture (DVD, in-game cutscene etc) then you need to use a program like HyperSnap or AVS Video Editor

If you just want a snapshot of your screen, just hit print screen and then open mspaint (or some other image editing program) and then go to Edit->Paste.

When you hit SHFT PRSCRN, the screen imake is pasted to your clipboard as a BMP file. Open any graphics file, MSPaint, Photoshop etc. and CTRL V it (paste it) into your application.

Cam Studio

I use it for tutorials on how to use certain programs, which are shown to several thousand people.

Incredibly simple to use, plus extra features.
