has become this MVP since he moved to the Suns? True Nash makes those around him better, but people act as if the same is not true of Nash and how the players around him could actually make him better.

All I here is how Nash makes his teammates better.??????????

So they don't make him better either?

Anyways, put Kobe on the Suns with Amare and you can go ahead and give them the Title. Last time Kobe had a post player on Amare or Marion's level he won 3 Titles.

Kobe is the true MVP this year. How is this not clear? If you lined up his team next to Nash and the Suns then they don't have a chance. As is the Suns have yet to even beat the Lakers in a single game this year. Kobe has better numbers than Nash and he has done a whole lot more with less.

Nash might be the overall better man but we are talking about basketball and the best basketball player and most deserving of the MVP this year is Kobe Bryant.

Nash is the MVP again, so far this year.

How can you say 'his teammates make him better' clearly you havent watched any Suns games this year, or ever. They just lost to the T-Wolves because they couldnt get anything done when Nash was on the bench, had he played 48, they most likely would have won.

You put Kobe on the Suns instead of Nash, and you got a decent team, definately not better than Pheonix w/ Nash.

dont say last time Kobe had a post player on Amare or Marion's level he won 3 Titles, because that NEVER HAPPEN; last time SHAQ had a good 2 guard he WON 4 TITLES.

Maybe Kobe scores more points, but when you average 20 points and 10 assists per game, it's hard to compare. Besides, he's in rare company with Kevin Johnson (former Sun) and Magic Johnson as the only player that has averaged those numbers.

If you look at a Suns game, they are usually down when he's out and up when he's in. Last year, he won the MVP without most of his leading scorers in the Playoffs. Raja Bell, Kurt Thomas, and Amaré Stoudemire were all out and he was still in the Conference Finals (and lost some really close games).

Another thing: He scored 42 points in that 161-157 game with the Nets this year. If you talk about a clutch player, just look at the huge 3-pointer at the end of the regulation to bring his team into OT. That's huge.

An MVP isn't necessarily a person who scores the most points (if it were that, then MJ would have been MVP for a lot more years than five).

Lastly, if he was the MVP over the last two seasons merely because of the numbers he was putting up in the regular season, he deserves it again. Why? His numbers are much better this year than the previous two. But he's just not the MVP because of numbers--he's a consummate leader and the future of the league.

Nash is a better player than Kobe. He can make better decisions and is a lot less selfish. Kobe has shared the ball more now but it has been an effort and the only reason he is doing it is because he wants that MVP. Im sick of hearing that Kobe should win the MVP. The only thing he does is score points, that can get you wins but to be the Most Valuable Player you need to have an good numbers all around. Nash scores and gives that pass when is needed. He gets steals and isnt expected to rebound because of his position. I think he and his team are better then the Lakers.

Ditto to what everyone above has said...

And also, it gets tiring to hear Kobe fans keep saying, "If Kobe had a better point guard..." or "If Kobe had a better center..." Kobe is with this team because this is the team that he WANTED. Kobe doesn't WANT TO play with all-stars like Amare and Marion. He wants to prove that he can win a title doing what he is doing now.
Using the old switch-this-player-with-that-player argument is just that: OLD. The teams are what they are.

Watch a Phoenix game closely, and watch ALL the players on the court. Notice how all of the plays are run through Nash, and watch how often he is able to get the ball to a cutting teammate at just the right time. And no....it's not just his position of being the point guard. He is central to almost every play that is run.

Kobe puts up big numbers, that's true. But 28-5-5? A lot of players put up that kind of numbers: Lebron, Vince, Arenas....Scorers come a dime a dozen in the NBA; players like Nash are irreplaceable.

First of all, team success is the first way to determine the MVP, then comes stats and other intangibles.
The Phoenix Suns and the Dallas Mavericks have the 2 best records in the league, so naturally the leaders in the MVP race is between Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki. Kobe has his team overachieving, but MVP makes his team an elite team. Remember, Michael Jordan never won the MVP when he was leading the league in scoring, even that year he AVERAGED 37.1 points per game and was making the playoffs every year, he didn't win it until the Bulls became elite. Same thing with Charles Barkley and Karl Malone.

Nash sets up the shots for all his teammates. Obviously you havent watched enough suns games. Shawn Marion and Stoudmiare get most of their points from alleys and passes of Nash. They dont have the talent to create their own shot most of the time. Plus you can tell when Barbosa comes in for Nash Barbosa does most of the scoring. I mean his not a greedy player but he does not have the same vision as Nash and presence.
