tell me if it is cold enough for a midthigh peacoat?
I am arriving today and I don't want to carry my coat if I don't necessarily have to.

I go to Vegas the first week of December every year and its never cold enough for any more than a light jacket. Most of the time during the day you can even get away with just a sweater. But after dark it gets cooler and you do need a jacket, but not anything like an overcoat. A waist length jacket will suffice. Many of the hotels are so close that when you walk from one to the other you are outside only a few minutes. If you stand and watch the Fountains at Bellagios a couple or three times or the Sirens at Treasure Island you will need your jacket.

I would say its not really peacoat weather. It's about 60 degrees right now, and the nights have been warming up. Still bring something warm to wear, but a peacoat might be overkill.
