Where the Day Takes You is a good one. It's an ensemble cast and is about runaway teenagers in California who are homeless. Came out a long time ago (1990's) and I'm not sure why it didn't receive a bigger audience. Very good film.

Another good one from the late 80's-early 90's is "Barfly" starring Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway - deals with people who settle for being homeless because they are alcoholics and will spend any little bit of money they get on booze. But depicts the hardships of trying to get back on track - like trying to apply for jobs when you have no phone to get a call for an interview.

The Pursuit of Happyness is a great movie about someone being homeless

the fisher king and where the day takes you are both really good films. fisher king is more about the personal redemption of jeff bridges and robin williams than homelessness, but it still has a lot of homeless stuff, too. where the day takes you is more of a "homeless" movie. it's about homeless young people in southern california - ensemble cast, lara flynn boyle, will smith, dermot mulroney, and balthazar getty(i think).

"Life Stinks" written and directed by Mel Brooks. He plays a millionaire who is challenged to be homeless for a month or he doesn't get any more money. It's kinda funny, but it is about being homeless.
