whats the top tips on building a yu-gi-oh deck?

im trying to build the best deck i can but im finding it hard to figure out which of my cards to use. plz help p.s i onli need tips on how to build the deck but not to much of saying which exact monsters and such to use but i am open to tips for helpful monsters

Dude,No-ones gonna tell you what monsters/magic/trps card sto have in your deck.Then it'd be their deck not yours.
Personally,i don't play alot of yu-gi-oh preferring Magic,but on the odd times I do play I have to borrow a friends deck.Now,he likes to Play but is in no way a big time player.Hence he doesn't spend alot of time with it improving it or spending money on it or whatever.Therefore he doesn't play much and i don't win much.He has great cards.He has Oblivion for God's sake!But he doesn't have alot in there that will work together.He has Monster Reborn and Pot of Greed which have already been described a s essential but whats the point of pot of greed if it's not going to give you an advantage?i.e.better monsters.I think you should have a good number of strong level 4 monsters, and maybe a relatively equal number of level 5's,less 6's and 7's and even LESS 8's.Ritual summons are always a good idea because you don't have to sacrifice to summon.Then you should look at special abilities,Like,ginzo who can destroy traps or cards that when destroyed destroy your opposing monster like swordsman from a foreign land.Reigeki,GET IT!
Remember,it's not math.The monster with the strongest attack points doesn't always win.Be sneaky and Win!

have cards that all go with each other but i wouldn't get a theme deck if u r not a card shopper on ebay. in a theme deck, u know what u r lookin 4 but it is a limited library and there are some cards really hard to gather for a good theme deck. Have essentials in ur deck such as monster rb, pot of greed, etc. unless ur deck requires u not to have them. i will post my deck later, plz all share ur thoughts.

i think you should for a theme and buy the structure deck for that theme, but go for the ones that have good cards like the machine has a pot of avarice and enemy controller not 2 mention the gear golem.if you do buy a structure deck buy it 2 or 3 times. If you have more money to spend try finding booster packs that have alot of the theme you picked like machines would be cyberdark impact and the lost millennium for the ancient gears. also put in 3 cards that let you special Summon cards from your deck that go with your theme like giant rat or mystic tomato. also if you plan to go to tournaments use the advanced format banned list.

What you should do is make some combos that work together or choose a theme and then put cards into your deck that will support the theme or put in cards that will help you pull off your combos faster, make them better, or even help them out.

Wall of revealing light (pay 3000)
in order to keep wall get cursed seal of the forbidden spell
and chaos scorcers

cats ear tribe
and you get the idea i hope
