there are far too many to name them all. but the most famous are the Cyclops, the Sirens, and Cerci.

Cyclops: His men landed on the Island of the Cyclops on accident. they were hungry and needed rest on dry land. when they made their sacrifice to Zeus and Posiden fro safe passage home, the Cyclops appears and steals a few of them to eat. they defeat him by felling a tree and sharpening it to a point, then jabbing it into the Cyclops' eye, thus killing him.

Sirens: Mythological creatures of doom. it is said that their song is irresitable to men. they sing to bring ships close to the rocky shores of their island, and then slaugter and eat all those foolish enough to come to them. Odysseus "defeats" them by making his men plug their eyes with wax so as to not hear them, then he has them tie him to the mast so (no wax in his ears) that he can hear them and thus letting the crew know when the danger has passed. He stops screaming to turn to the sirens when he can no longer hear their song.

Cerci: i probly spelled that wrong, but she is a Goddess (i forget of what) and traps him on her island as her love slave for many years. Posiden resuces him after much sacrifice and prayer from Odysseus.

it is a very long read, but well worth it. if you have time or the patients, read The Illiad first. The Illiad is the story of the Seige of Troy. The Odyssey is the adventure home, which lasts 20 years.
