Since wheel of fortune went digital, what is the point of having Vana there? I mean before she had to turn the things, but that was years ago. Any opinions on why she is still there? Just curious.

She's totally obsolete. They need to replace her with a newer, younger model. Vana 2.0... yeah...
If she isn't still under a contract, she's certainly a staple of the show. That'd be like when Topher Grace left "That 70's Show", it just wasn't the same afterward. They NEED Vana White. If she left, it'd be like Wheel lost an arm or something...

Most gameshowes have a pretty face and Vana is the pretty face of Wheel of Fortune. Most gameshows do. Look at all "Barker beauties" that have been on The Price is Right. Not to mention other shows like Card Sharks, Lingo, Deal or No Deal & Show Me the Money.

Contractual but also nostalgic. The two make a team and it is just an American icon of sorts. Poor Pat would be lost if Vanna did not wave at him from time to time. I also think it is a comfort thing with the amount of change we see today to know we still have the Vanna and Pat team. Makes you feel like American tradition or old time values and team work of sorts. Just my 5 seconds worth.

I'm sure she has a long standing contract with Wheel of Fortune. She's been obsolete for awhile now but they can't just fire her.

She is still there for tradition and for no other reason. While her role in the show is obsolete, there has always been someone in that position. If she ever decided to leave, I doubt they would replace her (but you never know).
