Tiger Barbs, especially Ruby and Red Tipped as they are called on the West Coast are the most aggressive of the family. These should be kept in Shoals not schools. A mixed shoal is the best bet. A shoal usually consists of 8 or more of the same species. You can mix barbs together to create a mixed shoal which can be very alluring to the eye. This depends on the size of your tank. A typical mixed shoal for a 55 would be:
3- Red Tipped Tiger Barbs
2- Albino Tiger Barbs
2- Red Ruby Barbs
2- Green Barbs
You want to avoid Tin foil and rosy barbs and cherry Barbs in these shoals as they are less aggressive and will not school with the shoal.

Barbs in General are nippy fish but they are also a schooling fish. I recommend you add at least 2 more and see if it helps any. The more you have the less they will nip at your other fish.
The Tiger barb should not be kept with slow moving fish, as it will constantly nip the fins of slower fishes. This barb mixes well with other small barbs, as well as small tetras. They are hardy fish, somewhat tolerant of temperature fluctuations.
Never listen to people at petsmart, petland etc... They are not very well trained and rarely know what they are talking about. If you want to talk to someone go to a smaller family owned pet store in your area. You will get better info.

Well what you need to do is take all of them out. Barbs are naturally like that. Also avoid putting barbs in with any fish that have long fins like swordtails or lyretails. Danios do well with Golden barbs because they chase right back. But other than that they will just keep nipping until you get rid of them.

I would suggest having at least 6 in the tank, but even then it may not stop all of the nipping. Tiger barbs just seem to love to nip.

That is just a general nature of barbs. Having more sometimes helps.. try having at least 6+, if that doesn't help, you may have to remove the barbs, or the other fish.

Tiger barbs decide on to be in communities of a minimum of 6. Even theat ought to not be adequate to save them from being agressive to different fish, 10 is a safer huge style, at the same time as thay are in a stunning good length college they offer up bothering different fish, and purely pester one yet another. Tiger barbs must have a 20 gallon tank minim. chinese language algae eaters strengthen 10 12 inches and get aggressive properly before that, they decide on a fifty 5 gallon minimum. Mollies and guppies should be in communities of three or better. in the journey that they are saved singaly, they have an inclination to grow to be shy and fewer than pressure, or fin nippy, and fewer than pressure All tetras decide on to be in colleges of 6 or better. they're a medium length fish that grows to tremendous on your tank. Glass tetras with colour were tortured and injected with paint. 2 out of ten die in the course of the technique and those that live on are extremely sensitve to ailments like ich that could spread to the completed tank. I do not forget that you want your fish and do not decide on to provide them away, yet you opt on to do a touch diagnosis into their care and make investments in a a lot higher tank or i'm afraid they don't have a lot longer to stay. Sorry, in case you opt on any suggestions or help o searching fish that could stay on your tank, be at liberty to digital mail me or upload me on your contacts record

Well, tiger barbs are notoriously nippy fish. They may never stop nipping at your other fish.
Generally, though, the more you have the less they nip at the other fish. I would get four of them and see if that changes their behaviour enough.

I have 6 and they nip from time to time. However they haven't seemed to do any noticeable damage to the other fishes' fins.
