Yes, you can have a marriage without love. Love is wonderful, but not necessary for a successful marriage. Respect, trust, common goals and interests can make it work as well. As long as both people are happy with "not being in love" and willing to commit to that it can work.

There are many marriages that begin with "love" and end in hate and divorce becasue they don't have any of the other attributes!!

Marriage is hard enough with love.
Unless you are extraordinary lucky and well off, most marriages have to cope with the normal day to day drudge of work, getting kids to school, household chores, balancing the budget and that excludes every crisis imaginable that comes ones way sooner or later.
Couples who WERE in love when they married often get divorced so you're going to have to be one hell of an optimist to succeed in a marriage without love to begin with.
This proposal sounds more like a business arrangement or for some expediency but why the need for marriage lacking love is somewhat perplexing.I mean WHY??
There are also many couples in love but not prepared to marry. Those can be understood but not the other way around unless you have some masochistic streak?

Of course. Is this a serious question? This concept of romantic love has been taken to a ridiculous extreme in America.

Arranged marriages far outlast American ones because the couple is comitted to the marriage and each other, rather than to a feeling of love, which inevitably comes and goes over time.

Over time, people come to love each other, and it's in the lifelong journey of loving and growing together and individually that mature love flourishes - not this fleeting thing that Americans typically experience. That's why Americans bolt when the feeling of love leaves - that, and the women leave because there is financial incentive for her to divorce.

Absolutely not. How can two people live together, exist day after day and not totally love each other. It would drive both people insane. And eventually make them turn to hate towards each other and bitterness would set in and hurt them both. Life is too short to live in a loveless realationship.

NO! How can someone make a commitment to someone they don't love vow to be together ''forever'' if they really don't love the other person all that will cause is divorce down the road.
