Well, my parents got two kittens about 3 months before I was born, so I guess they were my first pets.
The first pet I got that was MINE was a guinea pig, which I named Rasmus. Then I got a hamster named Yasha, and, after the guinea pig died, an undulate named Rasmus 2'nd.
Now all the above mentioned has died, and we are on the second round of cats.
I could never live without animals!

My parents got me a calico cat when I was 5. We named her "Squirt" 'cause she was so tiny she could fit into a teacup. She was the runt of the litter, but grew to be at one point near 20 lbs! The saddest thing, though, was when she was old she developed sever arthritis and went deaf. My parents had her put to sleep, and didn't tell me 'til after. I still get a little choked up about not being able to say goodbye. You get kinda attached to a cat after 20 years.

When I was a kid our first pet was colored ducks we got at easter. They used to dye them green, orange and yellow. When they got to big we let them go at the lake. My coolest pets were 5 black widow spiders we kept in a big mason Jar. Ziggy and the Spiders from Mars.

Goldfish...won from the Fun Fair...me and my brother were cleaning it out when the slippery little fellow wriggled and jumped and somehow managed to lodge itself behind the cooker...alas he didnt make it back to his bowl...on the plus side he would have died very soon anyway...fish from the fair never last more than a couple of weeks.....
