I was raised in Cuba during the Batista era, left shortly before the Castro takeover... Cuba was downright live-able back then, even though corrupt to the rafters... they called Batista "evil" back then. Remember the "evil" Shaw of Iran?
you might get a real "peach" like Castro or the Ayatollah.... How do you like those replacements? Be damn careful who you call "evil", Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

But the right wing former Cuban (US backed) Dictator Batista ,who Castro overthrew, was worse than Castro. Bush hasn't overthrown the US Govt. (at least not yet) but his anti-constitutional, anti-freedoms, legally questionable actions & out right lies are just as bad as Castro's or Batista's actions because the US is suppose to be the leader of the free world & Bush has almost completly destroyed that reputation the US has had since WW2. And that's worse than Watergate.

Medical care for one thing, highest proportion of doctors to patients in the world. Cuba has its faults and Castro is partly to blame but the revolution that brought him to power was popular with the majority of the people. The people lived in poverty before hand, the economy was run for the benefit of a very few, corruption was widespread. So Cuba is still third world, it is a dictatorship and there is at best limited freedom of speech/political activity. Well Ive travelled a bit in Africa amongst other places and I have seen much worse communist or otherwise. Id say that Mobutu in Zaire was 10 times worse than Castro and we supported him for years.
