I would like to tip a service man who installed our dishwasher (he is still here) but I don't know what the standard is?! He carried the new one by himself up two flights of stairs and took out our old one and carried it back down the two flights of stairs. Is $10 enough? Please reply ASAP! Thank you so much!

What? Is he being paid to install? Then nothing.

If it's included in the purchase, I'd tip $20 or $25.

i don't think of there's a single answer to this. some locations, the bussers, foodstuff prep, chefs and dishwashers get a very good hourly salary. Servers generally get approximately 0.5 of minimum salary. If the others are making $10 an hour, and the servers are making around $3 an hour, it does not be honest to share the information. If the bussers, et al are making minimum salary, it incredibly is a different tale, and the two all information could be pooled, and the servers make the same salary, or the servers tip a proportion to be divided between the group.

I would tip nothing. He is contracted for the service and is already being paid. Trust me, if he felt he was going way beyond the norm, he would add an extra charge for the installation. Offer him a cup of coffee or something else to show your appreciation ifhis service was far above your expectation.

What a miserable lot of ingrates - except for les the painter.
Jesus H Christ! Have you lot ever tried to carry a dishwasher or anything of comparable size and weight, up TWO flights of stairs, ON YOUR OWN?!
This guy deserves a bloody MEDAL. Give him the 25 bucks and think yourself lucky. I think that he would have earned every cent of it. He can even put it towards the cost of his hernia surgery!

Save your money!!!! You are paying big bucks to have him install it. That's what he gets paid for. No tipping necessary!!!!
