My question is why does Mace WIndou use a purple light saber? I already know that the Sith use red lightsabers, and the Jedi use blue, and once a Jedi becomes a Jedi master, he gets a green lightsaber. But how does a Jedi get a purple lightsaber? Mace Windou is my favorite Star Wars Character, and I would really appreciate it, if somebody can tell me why Mace Windou uses a purple lightsaber.

The color of the blade depends on the crystal you use, you can get a purple blade from several ways, one (in windus case) you use a purple crystal these are very rare however which is why windu is the only one who has one. Or you can use several crystals such as a blue and red one, the colors combine to make a purple blade.

Although some colors are associated with Jedi or Sith, it really does not make a difference. Mace WIndou uses a purple light saber because Sam Jackson wanted a different color so his character would stand out in a fight scene.

The Star Wars universe answer:
All Jedi have Khybar crystals which power their lightsabres. The crystals are mined on different planets. Mace decided to have a purple one.
The Real World answer:
Samuel L Jackson asked for a different colour from George Lucas. After much deliberating, George Lucas decided to give him a purple one.

According to the Star Wars jedi games...the color of a light saber has to do with the generator crystal...different crystals have different effects (red does more damage) I don't remember what effects the purple crystal has though

In the history of the Jedi, each makes their own luight saber with a special crystal for the color.
I heard, in real life, that Sam WANTED purple for his.

samuel l jackson once talked to george lucas and ask if he could have the purple light saber, george didn't answer, but the rest is history, samuel l jackson found out the purple saber in the premiere of the film.

when looking for the crystal you are going to use you search for a crystal that you feel a force bond with and windu had a force bond with that crystal they are very rare and they are stong and he can use the dark side to power his fighting style with his saber better.
