I want to set up a website to con paedophyles. They will send me money thinking they will be buying nasty pics but I will send them some help publication instead.

Is it legal?
What do I risk?

I don't think it is legal but I also do not think that many paedophyles would be stupid enough to complain to the authorities...

I know it is illegal but that would make me so happy to do it.

Most of you would see Robin Hood as a hero even if he was stealing the rich...They even make dolls out of his character!! Why not steal from peadophiles instead...

PS: For those who have a problem with my spelling : who cares? I am not a native english speaker! Try to speak another langage as good as I speak yours and then talk to me:/

It is obtaining money by deception, which is an offence. You are already on the borderline of committing an offence, to wit, conspiring to defraud. You have already indicated mens rea (guilty mind). If you go any further and actually set up the site, then you, and your ISP provider (by vicarious liability) could be considered for prosecution in English Criminal Law, as you have activated actus reus (guilty act).

Truthfully that should be left to the police sting operations. They set people up as part of their investigations against child porn.

If you'd like to work with the authorities, you could also let them know of your plan and they would direct you. But as far as making contact and intervention, it would not be suggested because you'd be putting yourself at risk. Depending on their PC software purchases, not all pedophiles are stupid. They can track Id's and have ways of finding out where you live. You could be asking for issues that you cannot control.

If you want to set up a sting operation, you'd be better off letting the authorities in on it for your own protection.

I think the intention is good but that doesn`t make it a good idea
Don`t take any notice of people who are criticising your spelling I am English and i can`t spell but at least i have the good manners to not point out another persons mistake in public
the funny thing is the ones criticising your spelling have ALL spelt it wrong themselves
so there you go !

You know, it always did worry me that there was a bunch of policemen with nothing better to do than make up fake pedo websites. And they have to watch hours and hours of kiddie porn too. Its a tough job but somebody has to do it .

Many of the supposed "pedos" you attract will , in fact be policemen from all over the world trying to catch you.

But that's the kind of world we are living I suppose.

You have just had a rubbish idea. Forget about it.

Plenty more ways to skin a cat (or peoderphille), then getting yourself in the sh#t !!!
Anyway with the way Britain is run at the moment, you couldn't go to jail for conning someone, as there aren't enough spaces!

No I don't think its legal as Conning anyone is a crime. Advertising that your thinking about doing it, isn't a good start.

You risk being locked up with Paedophiles (the ones that haven't been let off that is).

if you advertise that you have pics of under-aged kids, you probably risk getting investigated, even if no one complains, and maybe going to jail. if you want to help, do what they did on dateline- get a job tricking the perverts and then put them in jail.

I don^t think it is a good idea, your intentions may be good, but it could back fire and you could end up in Court as a Paedophile contact especially once you have one or two odd addresses in your register
