I'm thinking about ordering an e1405 with vista.

If they have not changed since XP, it is Sonic Record. I think there is an upgrade, but I cannot remember precisely.
If you do get a dell, make sure you use a coupon. They come out weekly. They are available at http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html and include $192 off e1405 laptop.

Don't get vista - save your money. Vista is unproven and is a major resource hog. Your computer will seem almost twice as fast with XP than it will with Vista - just because the OS is sucking up so much of your processor power and memory.
To answer your question, either sonic, or sometimes Nero.

idk about the DVD burniong software, b ut nero is good.
now about vista. its not all its been made out to be. read some reviews, or some other posts in Y! answers and you'll see that most people are not gonna be switching any time soon. vista i s really only a pretty version of XP with many more security chacks that become annoying. i;d wait till they release at least one update before i get vista
